“Into the Forest” is a post-apocalyptic disaster movie without a single visual effect,” Madison Movie critic, Rob Thomas, wrote. “No explosions, no zombies, no mobs rioting in the streets. There’s just quiet, and dark.”
Oliver Jones of New York Observer concurred, saying, “[‘Into the Forest’ is] one of the more intimate and thoughtful takes on the post-apocalypse in cinematic memory.”
Directed and written by Patricia Rozema, “Into the Forest” premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2015 and was released in the U.S. on Friday. The film also won “Best Feature Film” at the 2016 Imagine Film Festival and was nominated for the Canadian Screen Awards, Leo Awards and the Directors Guild of Canada Craft Award
