Shea's 10 Favorite Films of the Decade

by Shea Conner, published on Friday, January 8, 2010

Last week, Blake Hannon contributed a list of his 10 favorite films of the 2000s to this blog. So I thought I'd reveal my 10 faves, too.

We're both 20-something men, so naturally there are a few repeats-- "Borat," "The Dark Knight," etc. I think where we differ is what I most find interesting. "Shaun of the Dead" wouldn't even touch my honorable mentions and I know "Sin City" wouldn't make it to his. I was also surprised to see "Juno" missing from the indie music aficionado's top 10. Maybe he's punishing Diablo Cody for writing "Jennifer's Body."

Like Blake, I know there are several movies that made a larger artistic impact or spewed some of the most intelligent dialogue ever created, but these are movies that I could watch over and over. They still give me chills or make me laugh so hard I spit Mountain Dew out of my mouth. Ladies and gentlemen, my 10 favorite movies of the 2000s:

5. "Juno" (2007)

The story of "Juno" isn't anything remarkable, but its characters make it timeless. I love sarcasm, so I was a sucker for Juno McGuff. Ellen Page nailed the smart-alec tomboy role. But let's not give Page all the credit. Michael Cera, Allison Janney, J.K. Simmons, Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman were all outstanding in their supporting roles as well. And I could go on and on about the music. "Juno" was hip, quirky, ironic and ultimately, very cool.
