Alison Lohman has replaced Ellen Page in Sam Raimis Drag Me To Hell.
We first reported last week that Page had dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
Luckily for Raimi, Lohman was available to star in the film thats based on a script which he wrote with his brother Ivan fifteen years ago. The movie begins shooting on March 31st, two weeks after its planned start date.
The rush was on to get an actress for the film as Ghost House Pictures and Mandate Pictures wanted to get the film in the can before the possible SAG strike in June.
Lohmans film credits include Robert Zemeckis Beowulf, Ridley Scotts Matchstick Men and Tim Burtons Big Fish. Not a bad list of directors to have on your resume!
However, Lohman doesnt have the current buzz of Juno star Ellen Page, and you have to wonder how that will affect the films financial prospects or even its funding.
That said, Im sure that Drag Me To Hell will be sold as From the director of The Evil Dead and Spider-Man.
The main question is: Did Ellen Page really walk away because the script sucked, or was she really too busy to film Sam Raimis return to the horror genre?
Either way, Im sure that Raimi will deliver a film thats horrific. Lets just hope he does it intentionally!
