Just moments ago, Jason Sudeikis wrapped up the 20th Annual MTV Movie Awards from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles where he served as the ceremony's upbeat and hilarious host.
NextMovie was conveniently positioned in the white press tent backstage, where we watched the entire show and got the behind-the-scenes scoop.
The show kicked off at 9 p.m. ET with a pre-taped sketch featuring the "Saturday Night Live" star, Taylor Lautner and Justin Bartha waking up "Hangover 2"-style in a rundown hotel room with Eva Mendes. The skit struck the perfect chord with audience members and had the press backstage, all hunched over their laptops, in stitches.
After accepting one of the first awards of the night for Best Villain, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1" star Tom Felton stopped backstage to confess that the night was already a "very cool, very humbling experience" before joking that he would celebrate his second win in this category with "a pot of tea." Somewhere, Felton is actually kicking back now with his Golden Popcorn trophy and "a beer or a glass of champagne."
In between the Best Male Performance, Best Female Performance and Best Breakout Star categories (which were won by Robert Pattinson for "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," Kristen Stewart for "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and Chloe Grace Moretz for "Kick-Ass," respectively), "Green Lantern" co-star and the night's presenter Blake Lively smiled for pictures backstage and ignored shouts hurled at her about some, um, other recent pictures that have popped up on the internet.
"Bad Teacher" stars Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel -- who presented the Best Line From a Movie award to "Grown Ups" star Alexys Nycole Sanchez for her quip, "I want to get chocolate wasted" -- humored reporters by posing prom-style for photographs.
Moments later, first-time popcorn winner Alexys Nycole Sanchez appeared for her own backstage close-up. When asked what it was like to work with Adam Sandler," the pint-size actress said, "It was really nice to work with all of 'em." Sanchez, who thanked her manager during her acceptance speech, delighted reporters by telling them that she and her rep had been working together since she was 5. In case you were wondering how often the actress gets "chocolate wasted" like her "Grown Ups" character, the answer is "sometimes."
While Best Comedic Performance, Biggest Badass Star and Best Scared-As S**t Performance trophies were handed out (to Emma Stone for "Easy A", Chloe Grace Moretz for "Kick Ass" and Ellen Page for "Inception" respectively), rappers Lupe Fiasco, Lil Mama and Nicki Minaj braved the rain to say hello to the press room.
The cast of MTV's new series "Teen Wolf" -- including Tyler Posey, Crystal Reed and Tyler Hoechlin -- excitedly filed into the press room to laugh about their first time at the award show and lament the gloomy weather. "It's cold and wet but we're used to it." As for whether they feel any pressure about their upcoming series, based on the Michael J. Fox movie, the answer is, "No! No pressure."
After "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" won Best Movie, the cast (save for Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner) made their way to the press room to pose for pictures with their shiny new trophies. Bryce Dallas Howard, Xavier Samuel, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone beamed about their big win as the press room cheered.
Finally, after closing out his first MTV Movie Awards hosting gig, a relieved Jason Sudeikis jogged into the press room to applause and after posing with a few fans huddled nearby, wished everyone a good night. Whether or not the "Saturday Night Live" star will live to host another year's show...we'll just have to wait and see.
