10,000 years and 472,000 films into his career, Woody Allen starts to get all trendy. Juno and Mark Zuckerberg will be joining Alec Baldwin and Penelope Cruz in Allens next, yet-untitled film. Well, its actually Jesse Eisenberg and Ellen Page that are jumping on board, but 99% of Americans arent able to divorce these actors from their high-profile characters, so its pretty much all the same.
Ellen Page has always seemed like a Woody Allen character to me, so Im interested to see how she fares when actually put in that neurotic world. Will she become super-sassy and verbose, or will she find a new gear that gets her outside of the cliche shes built upon herself? Im expecting the former, but hoping for the latter.
As for Eisenberg, he does a fairly good job of creating neuroses in any film he joins, so appearing in a Woody Allen film seems a little redundant, but lets give him the benefit of the doubt. If we can get another gem like Winklevii out of it, then it will have all been worthwhile.
