Leave it to 75-year-old writer-director Woody Allen to stay ahead of the pack.
On the morning that it was announced that Allens Midnight In Paris officially would open the 64th Cannes Film Festival in May, casting news breaks regarding Allens next picture.
Saying that Allen wont stop until hes dead is an understatement. Wed be amazed if he actually, you know, slowed down just a little and maybe put out a film every two years instead of the one-a-year pace he has been keeping. He puts directors like James Cameron and Peter Jackson to shame. Seriously, Allen will have roughly five films out before Cameron finally delivers his first Avatar sequel. Thats insane.
But I digress. Allen has lined up Alec Baldwin, Jesse Eisenberg, Penelope Cruz and Ellen Page for a mysterious project being filmed in Rome, Variety reports. We say mysterious because the film doesnt have a title yet, and details are being kept under wraps, so we dont know if Allens aiming for a comedy, a drama, or what.
Well find out when we find out, but I like the ensemble, and I hope Rome revives the filmmakers storytelling juices the way Spain and England have in the past.
