» Cisco Sells Surveillance

by themalcontent, published on Monday, February 22, 2010 8:02 pm

Those watching any of the Olympics coverage have no doubt seen the "Town Hall" Cisco commercial featuring Ellen Page. She pulls up to her real-life hometown’s city hall in a vintage, blue MG Midget. She is greeted by the mayor and escorted to the burg’s (really: the town’s name is Lunenburg) "new" police department, where camera feeds from all over town float on a bank of video screens. The uniformed officer monitoring the monitors ensures the mayor all’s quiet. Then Page does a double take – is that an officer ticketing her sweet little car? – and darts out of the room.

Oh, hardy har har and har! We’re being watched 24/7 – isn’t that just the cutest thing?

Umm, no. It’s not.
