»Freeheld« will be available on Digital HD, Video On Demand, Blu-ray and DVD early next year

Following the theatrical release of the film in October, Lionsgate will be releasing »Freeheld« on Digital HD and Video On Demand (VOD) on January 19, 2016, and on Blu-ray and DVD in the United States on February 2, 2016. Among the bonus features are a "The Making of Freeheld" featurette, a "Freeheld to Freedom: Ocean County Then and Now" featurette, Cynthia Wade's Academy Award-winning documentary short of the same name as well as an audio commentary with director Peter Sollett, Julianne Moore and Ellen Page. The compelling film was adapted by the Academy Award®-nominated writer of Philadelphia and had its world premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. After detective Laurel Hester (Moore) is diagnosed with cancer, she learns that government officials won't award her pension benefits to her domestic partner, Stacie (Page). Refusing to accept the officials' decision, Laurel and Stacie lead a battle for equal rights in this unforgettable movie that speaks to the power of love and the pursuit of justice.

Special features include the complete 38-minute Oscar®-winning documentary short, "FREEHELD" (2007), which the movie was based upon, an audio commentary with the director, Julianne Moore and Ellen Page, plus two featurettes looking at the making of the film and how the people that experienced the events in real life are doing now.
