Today I sat down for dinner to chat with 20 year old Canadian actress/singer/songwriter, Kate Todd… she’s the small town Innisfil, Ontario girl who’s making a name for herself!! published on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 6:33 pm You started your career as the main character, Lily Randall on the show, Radio Free Roscoe… How did you land that gig?? I was only 14 at the time and I was so nervous going into my audition… but I just took out my guitar and started playing and eventually came back for 4 more auditions and landed the part. It changed my life because that’s when my career officially started. Tell me about your upcoming role on the show Life with Derek… I play a character named Sally... I am Derek’s new love interest, he falls for me because I am a strong female who can challenge him. I really admire my character and her strength. Any on-screen / off-screen romance?? Kissing on-screen… off-screen nope! I’m single. Single eh?!… why’s that?? Honestly I have no time to date. Between my singing, acting, auditions, traveling, and other events/arrangements I don’t have the time. Describe to me your perfect guy… Why describe when I can draw!!! Wow!! Totally looks like me... you're so sweet... Onto the next question... If you could date one celebrity who would it be… excluding me?? Just one?! Brad Pitt or Orlando Bloom!!! Speaking of celebrities, what do you think of Britney Spears and her craziness?? She just needs help, and Dr. Phil isn’t the one to help her! I remember when she used to have the hottest body back in the day. Ohh trust me, I remember… so aside from acting, you also sing… Yup I have an album coming out this summer and I’ll be performing a couple of my tracks on February 16th at The Sound Academy in Toronto. What kind of music would you call your tracks?? Well I love Sheryl Crow, so it’s going to be like a more punky-rock Sheryl Crow sound. But people are defiantly going to feel connected to me and know me after hearing my songs, cause it’s who I am, and what you see is what you get… I’m no sell out!!! Can’t wait to hear it!! So do you think it’s hard for Canadians to make it in this industry?? People don’t take Canadian seriously I feel, but our time is coming. A lot of Canadians are doing big things lately and 2008 is going to be our year! Totally agree with that statement!! Which Canadian actress do you look up to?? I shot “The Tracey Fragments” with Ellen Page. It is currently up for 6 Genie Award nominations. I think she’s great! I like!! I like!! So, if I took you to a bar right now, what would be your drink of choice?? Well I don’t really drink, so I’d have to say Apple Bubble Tea. So you’re not a crazy partier like Paris Hilton eh?! Haha nope… but she did text message me once while I was in L.A. and said, “Hey bitch come party tonight!” It was pretty funny… so I went to the club she was at. I honestly love staying home and playing my guitar or watching movies. I don’t go out too much, I guess you could say I am more of a homebody. If Paris called me her bitch I’d lay the smack down on her!! I was wondering, any secrets people don’t know about you that you wish to tell??… You can trust me!! Hmm..I am a such a perfectionist... I can even be a bit bossy! Oh, and I am a total health and fitness advocate! I guess I better eat my greens with you. So what’s in the future for you besides Life with Derek and your album (as if that wasn’t enough)?? I’m going to be in a new movie with Ving Rhames called Saving God which is pretty exciting news, so I can’t wait to start that project. Sounds fun… stay away from his dogs!!
