The film will also mark actress Drew Barrymore's directorial debut. The 20 year-old Page will play a reluctant beauty queen from Texas who finds her true calling after joining a roller derby team. "I can't wait to kick ass on wheels!" the Halifax-born Page was quoted as saying. The small indie film is set to begin production in summer 2008 and Page is expected to schedule another role before filming begins. The indie darling is winning the hearts of North American audiences and critics alike with her star turn in independent film Juno, which has earned close to $73 million US at the North American box office and is expected to pick up several Oscar nods when the award nominations are announced on Tuesday (Jan. 22).
