Cute animals steal scenes from Ellen Page in this Canadian cable movie By Ed Grant, published on August 31, 2009 Ellen Page stars in this family-friendly 2003 Canadian cable movie about a teen girl who moves to a new town with her widower father (Michael Ontkean). Originally titled Mrs. Ashboro’s Cat, the movie was co-produced by Animal Planet and features plenty of close-ups of cats, dogs and sheep. The routine plot is about mourning a loved one and the awkwardness of teen life, but Page, Ontkean and Shirley Knight (the owner of the ghost cat) make their characters properly sympathetic. Shelf Talk: Page has faded from the limelight since her Juno Oscar nom, but the selling factor here is the supporting cast of animals. Ghost Cat also has Christmas appeal, thanks to its wintry setting and sentimental story line. Source: www.videobusiness.com |
