CTV Believe CampaignIn a press release yesterday, CTV has announced the launch of a new BELIEVE promotional campaign featuring the voices of Ellen and fellow Canadian actors Gordon Pinsent (»Away from Her«) and Pierre Lebeau (»Séraphin«) in support of its broadcast of the London 2012 Olympic Games during its exclusive coverage of Super Bowl XLVI this Sunday.

The first award-winning BELIEVE campaign debuted in advance of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games – helping to inspire a nation and introduce Canadians to its Olympic heroes. The current London 2012 BELIEVE campaign rekindles the incredible feeling of national pride that grew out of Vancouver 2010, engaging new Canadians by showcasing how the Olympic spirit of BELIEVE has spread to their homelands. Showcasing both Canadian and international athletes, the production involved three separate crews shooting over six months across Canada, the United States and other foreign countries including India, China, the Philippines, Poland, Italy, Portugal, Jamaica, Scotland, and England to create the look and feel of a trailer for a dramatic feature film. Overall, a total of 29 different image spots of various lengths have been produced and will broadcast on CTV and TSN, and in French on RDS.

Update - 02/06/2012

West of Memphis Poster
This past Saturday Ellen attended a screening of the high-profile documentary »West of Memphis« at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and had the pleasure of meeting director Amy Berg.

»West of Memphis« is a powerful examination of a failure of justice in the US state of Arkansas. For many people, the case of the West Memphis Three has become synonymous with wrongful conviction. Despite a lack of physical evidence, three Arkansas teenagers - Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin - were found guilty in 1994 of the ritual murder of three eight-year-old boys. Media attention led to an outpouring of support that has kept them in the public consciousness for nearly two decades.
The two-and-a-half-hour film tells the hitherto unknown story behind an extraordinary and desperate fight to bring the truth to light. Told and made by those who lived it, the filmmakers' unprecedented access to the inner workings of the defense, allows the documentary to show the investigation, research and appeals process in a way that has never been seen before; revealing shocking and disturbing new information about a case that still haunts the American South. Director Amy Berg examines the crime and its aftermath, providing a voice for the victims' families, including those with doubts about whether the right people are behind bars. Rather than focus on the accused, the docu follows their supporters, including loved ones, attorneys, and celebrity advocates such as American musician and singer-songwriter Eddie Vedder and director/producer Peter Jackson as they seek the truth. With the help of a former FBI profiler, a less sensational motive and suspect emerges - one shockingly, never investigated.
